Desk toys and gadgets in particular can have a negative impact on your productivity if these make you spend more time tinkering with them than doing your job.

Multi-cultural and multi-racial work environments are common nowadays. With this in mind, you should take care that your decorations do not offend your co-workers and other people. Do not use items that might be interpreted as profane or disrespectful of others religious beliefs, gender, political views and race.
